Assalāmu alaykum wa rahmatullāh,

Thank you for considering contributing to the KC Masterclass series. We deeply value the clarity, depth, and perspective that scholars like yourself bring to public discourse. This guide outlines what to expect from the masterclass process, so that your ʿilm and insight can reach the audience in a structured, thoughtful, and impactful way.

What is the KC Masterclass Series?

One topic. One session. A meaningful delivery.

  • Duration: Max 1.5 hours
(Ideal structure: 60 minutes of delivery, 30 minutes Q&A)

  • Frequency: One masterclass per month
(For speakers, this is a once-off session unless re-invited)

  • Audience: Educated Muslim public; engaged, thoughtful, and seeking depth, but not necessarily trained in Islamic sciences

  • Goal: To offer content that is both intellectually and spiritually rich, rooted in tradition, and relevant to lived realities

Core Philosophy

These masterclasses are not basic talks or broad overviews. They aim to:

  • Share knowledge that is rooted in sound Islamic tradition, but also connected to present-day contexts

  • Offer content that is specific, purposeful, and structured

  • Integrate fiqh, theology, and spirituality with current research and life experience

  • Equip participants with a conceptual framework or model that allows them to retain and apply what they’ve learned

  • Avoid sectarian debates or politicisation unless necessary and thoughtfully managed

Each session should feel like a precise and profound contribution to the broader conversation.

Topic Guidelines

We encourage scholars to either:

  • Choose from a curated list of topics provided, or

  • Propose a topic aligned with our values and structure

Ideal topics:

  • Engage women’s lived experiences through the lens of fiqh, theology, or spiritual care

  • Address under-discussed or under-developed areas in mainstream platforms

  • Offer specific focus, not broad overviews

  • Are framed with scholarly grounding and contemporary insight

Examples of KC Topics:

  • Healing From Religious Guilt (Completed)

  • Beyond the Cycle: Fiqh of Menopause & Midlife Transitions

  • Fiqh of the Womb: Miscarriage, Contraception, Loss & More

  • The Hidden Rights: Community, Loneliness & Spiritual Care

  • Juggling Roles: Mothers, Seekers, Professionals

  • Fiqh of Friendship (Completed)

  • Muslim Women & Social Media: Influence with Integrity

Content Expectations

We trust your scholarship and depth as an alima. This section is to support how your insight can be most impactful for a general public audience:

  • Ground your topic in Qur’an, Hadith, fiqh texts, and scholarly perspectives

  • Where applicable, use modern research, qualitative or statistical data, or relevant case studies

  • Make the material accessible to an educated lay audience; explain Arabic terms, avoid jargon, and define technical points

  • Provide clarity of structure (e.g., session divided into clear parts, or framed with guiding questions)

  • Offer conceptual takeaways or practical frameworks for reflection and application

Fiqh Considerations

If your session covers fiqh matters:

  • We can discuss in advance to align on approach or areas that need nuance

  • Valid differences of opinion are welcomed and respected

  • We’re happy to help frame any potentially sensitive areas with balance and clarity

Support & Collaboration

Once your topic is chosen, we’ll work closely with you throughout the process.

  • We can help identify the best angle or framing for the topic, if needed

  • You’re free to do your own research, but we’ll offer feedback, suggestions, and refinement based on the direction

  • If you’re stuck on structure, examples, or sources, we’ll guide you

  • Our goal is to support your voice while ensuring clarity and accessibility for the audience

This isn’t just about delivering a ‘talk’; it’s a collaborative process to make your knowledge benefit with clarity and impact.

Presentation Format

  • Sessions are generally delivered in-person (Fawkner 3060) with an online option for distance audiences.

  • Visual aids are required, as presenters’ cameras will not be on, and should be submitted as a neat, well-organised Word document, PDF, or other clear format.

  • Presenters can request samples of previous slides, training guides, and recordings of past masterclasses to understand format, pacing, and style.

  • Q&A will be moderated by the host.

Timeline & Process

  1. Initial interest → You confirm topic or general interest

  2. Planning call → Short check-in to discuss direction

  3. Outline submission → A semi-detailed flow of your content points

  4. Session scheduled → Date agreed upon well in advance

  5. Promo begins → We’ll request your bio

  6. Session delivered → We’ll handle all tech, introductions, and Q&A

Content & Branding:

  • Presenters retain the right to use the content they create for their own purposes.

  • KC-branded masterclass materials (slides, recordings, promotional assets) remain KC property and may not be used elsewhere without explicit permission.

  • This allows you to share your knowledge while ensuring KC’s brand and platform integrity are protected.

Final Notes

  • All sessions are recorded and may be archived for future on-demand access

  • You’re welcome to reference this session in your own teaching portfolio or bio

  • This series is part of a broader initiative to centre women’s scholarship, lived realities, and nuanced knowledge in the public sphere

BārakAllāh fīk again, we’re honoured to have your voice and scholarship as part of the Australian community.
